HOW TO PICK THE PERFECT PINEAPPLE

IMG_5693

Summer

  • Look for a pineapple with a good weight for its size (There is no quality difference between a big and small pineapple).
  • Pineapples shouldn’t have bruises, darkened or soft spots. This is a indication of a damaged pineapple or past its “prime” time.
  • Pineapples change flavour as the skin colours. Pineapple flavour is described as a mix of acid and sugars. As the acid reduces, the skin turns a deeper yellow and the flavour is sweeter (although pineapples aren’t able to produce sugar once harvested).

Winter

Our Pineapples are picked at the “right” time at each season throughout the year so that they arrive perfect at your table. You can look out for different skin colours depending on the season.

Summer – Look for greener fruit with at least a ring of colour from the base (it will last longer).

Winter – Look for more coloured fruit with at least 1/2 colour.
